With over twenty-five years of experience in the climate industry, Boonrod is recognized as an expert on climate finance & instruments, decarbonization solutions, and the climate market. As the Founding Partner at Creagy, he plays a crucial role in shaping the company's vision and strategic direction, enabling climate actions by empowering various stakeholders to build a net-zero economy together.
Boonrod's expertise includes analyzing current climate policies, assessing their effectiveness, and aiding in developing more impactful regulations and enabling environment. He is leading in guiding corporations on their journey to net-zero, which is rooted in a deep understanding of the complex economic and policy landscapes that characterize the transition to a sustainable economy. His approach is informed by comprehensive analyses of the transition's impact on demand, capital allocation, costs, and employment across crucial sectors responsible for the majority of emissions.
In addition to his leadership at Creagy, Boonrod contributes his knowledge as an instructor at the Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (ScII), where he teaches a course titled 'Climate Change: From Science to Actions'. He also plays a significant role in regional climate efforts, serving as an Evaluation Ambassador at Energy Evaluation Asia-Pacific (EEAP) and on the council board of the Thailand Carbon Neutral Network (TCNN), helping to shape climate policy and reinforce regional commitment to sustainable development.
Boonrod's pioneering efforts in climate change started in the Kyoto Protocol era back in the 2000s when he was working on biogas-to-energy projects for the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects. His subsequent roles as a Carbon Commercial Analyst at Eneco and a Sustainable Risk Advisor at ABN AMRO Bank in the Netherlands further honed his skills, where he integrated climate risk metrics into customer profiling, thereby increasing the financial sector’s focus on sustainability. After returning to Bangkok, Boonrod took on a significant role at Engie Asia, identifying and structuring carbon credits and clean energy projects across several Asian countries. His efforts led to leading the USAID Clean Power Asia program, a multi-million-dollar initiative to enhance renewable energy in the Mekong region. Through his leadership at the USAID regional Private Financing Advisory Network-Asia (PFAN), Boonrod solidified his reputation as an expert in mobilizing investment for clean energy projects, particularly in Southeast Asia.
